During your Mexico travel you may want or need, to communicate home at some point. Your best bet is a Mexico to US calling card or prepaid phone card to your home country. Phone service is readily available and is one option. However BEWARE, as we learned the hard way on our first trip…a 3 minute call back home to let everyone know we had arrived safely, came to $63usd on our phone bill! A prepaid Mexico calling card or Mexico phone card can save you a lot of money!

The country code for Mexico is 52. Directory and Operator Information Directory assistance is 040 nationwide. For international assistance, dial 00 first for an international operator.

Travel Tip - If you must call, the best bet is purchase a Mexico phone card in Mexico. You can purchase one in a small denomination and even if you don’t use the entire amount, you aren’t out $63!

INTERNET ACCESS

Internet access is readily available in most hotels and resorts. Resorts typically provide internet service for a nominal fee and “Internet Cafés” are becoming quite common.

Travel Tip – This is our preferred communication method for non-urgent matters. For instance, in Puerto Vallarta I took advantage of a “Cafés” offer of ˝ hour of Internet time plus two ice cold beers, all for $3, to quench my thirst while writing the folks back home. What a deal!
